The oldest University in Poland (established in 1364) and one of the best (in various rankings at 1st/2nd place in Poland). The University is very active in doing scientific and other research/projects (including FP UE and Horizon 2020). Involved in various international cooperation activities, including research and educational projects, faculty and student exchange within bilateral agreements, Erasmus+ and SYLFF, summer schools, networks, innovation and technology transfer and scholarship schemes. Today, the Jagiellonian University comprises 16 Faculties, where nearly 4 thousand academic staff conduct research and provide education to over 40 thousand students (38,550 students and about 3,255 PhD Students), within the framework of more than 80 different fields of study. The eminent researchers and state-of-the-art infrastructure make the JU one of the leading Polish scientific institutions, collaborating with major academic centres from all over the world (ie. Charles University).
The Jagiellonian University is also home to about 150 student societies, where young researchers pursue their academic interests and develop friendships with people who share their passion. The staff has been actively involved in projects realization within the Marie Skłodowska Curie Action. The projects cover a broad variety of topics from humanities, through social sciences to natural sciences.
