Background:
Inappropriate medication use in older patients is highly prevalent and often linked to ageism.
Ageism in medication use has negative consequences on the health and quality of life of older adults.
Goals:
To analyze and compare existing practices and policies in the area of inappropriate medication use in older patients in several countries
To develop national and EU policy recommendations to avoid ageism in medication use in different settings of care

To describe and compare the prevalence, risk factors and strategies to reduce inappropriate medication use in older patients in different settings of care
To compare the availability of potentially inappropriate medications and safer drug alternatives on pharmaceutical markets
To compare the availability of medication-safety and medication management services for older patients
