Fialová Daniela, PharmD, PhD, BCCP is the Head of University Educational Centre in Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University and Chair of the Scientific group “Aging and Changes in the Therapeutic Value of Medications in the Aged“ in PROGRESS Q42 Scientific program, Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University. She is supervisor of PhD students and Member of the Board for postgraduate studies in the field of Clinical Pharmacy (Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University) and in the field of Geriatrics and Gerontology (1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University). She is experienced researcher in inappropriate prescribing, polypharmacy and drug risks in combined drug regimens in older patients. Until now, she has been involved in pharmacoepidemiological analyses in several European projects, e.g. the ADHOC project (AgeD in Home Care, 5th FP of the European Commission, 2001- 2005), SHELTER project (Services and Health in the Elderly in Long-Term Care, 7th FP of the EC, 2009-2014), PREDICT project (Participation of Elderly in Clinical Trials, 7th FP of the EC, 2009-2014) and EU COST Action IS1402 initiative “Ageism- interprofessional, multinational perspectives”. Her scientific group closely cooperates with the Academy of Science and State Institute for Drug Control in the Czech Republic, as well as with several academic institutions in the Central and Eastern Europe. For WHO they newly started activities investigating (comparatively to Europe) rationality of drug prescribing in older patients in developing countries, namely in India and Ethiopia.
In newly granted European project EUROAGEISM (Horizon 2020, MSCF-ITN program, 2017-2021) D. Fialová is the Chair of the scientific program FIP7 “Inappropriate prescribing in older patients in Europe and availability of medication safety and medication management services in EU countries”. She leads activities in clinical pharmacy research in Central and Eastern European region and coordinates other research works as a member of RESC ESCP- Research and Scientific Committee of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy. Research topics of her interest include evaluation of the efficacy and safety of combined drug regimens in older patients, polypharmacy, rational geriatric pharmacotherapy, risk-management in geriatrics, analyses of drug-related geriatric syndromes in polymorbid older adults and geriatric pharmacoepidemiology, She published over 80 articles in the journals with the impact factor or peer-reviewed journals (cited 922x in 783 sources (without autocitations) including 89 co-authors from different countries). She authored/co-authored several book chapters, monographies and one theme issue in geriatric clinical pharmacy. As a Board member of the RESC ESCP and Section of Clinical Pharmacy of the Czech Pharmaceutical Society she becomes regularly invited speaker at different national and international events in rational geriatric pharmacotherapy, geriatric clinical pharmacy and geriatric pharmacoepidemiology. She is Full Fellow of the InterRAI research corporation, Chair of the EU COST Action IS1402 WG1 group “Health” and WG1b subgroup “Healthy clinical strategies for healthy ageing” (2015- 2018). She is a member of the Czech Pharmaceutical Society, Czech Medical Association J.E. Purkyně, Czech Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, International Association of Geriatrics and Gerontology (IAGG) and European Society of Clinical Pharmacy.(ESCP)
